A former art teacher, CROME 拉面猫就是星空萌 is currently working as a full-time cosplayer and regularly posts new photos and status updates to serve her `army` of fans.
This guy started trying on women’s clothes in 2007 but without makeup at that time, it was all done in complete secrecy and considered it the beginning of his female cosplay career.
It wasn’t until 2012 that he was `brave` enough to go into public areas dressed as his favorite female anime characters.
`At that time, I worked and lived alone, so I could buy things like makeup and accessories from my salary,` the cosplayer said in a 2016 interview.
It can be said that CROME has come a long way in the past eight years, and he now has hundreds of thousands of fans on the Chinese social media platform Weibo, as well as being invited to major cosplay events.
CROME said that he actually worked as an art teacher for a few years, but gave it up to change his career path to cosplay.
The Korean website Insight also recently posted an article about a Chinese cosplayer. This post said that one of his former students at school had to admit that he was one of his favorite idol cosplayers.
Although she is successful in her career, CROME admits that cosplaying as female anime characters is always a challenge for herself.
CROME adds that people are increasingly accepting of his career choice and he believes that the internet has played a huge role in changing people’s perceptions and helping them overcome their prejudices.
When asked if he likes to wear women’s clothes in everyday life, CROME said he rarely does so, because he considers himself a lazy person and dressing up as an anime heroine is a must.
In fact, CROME is not the first man to cosplay as female anime characters, there was also an 18-year-old cosplayer who did the same thing.
