The Israeli army announced an attack on Lebanese territory today, October 11, after the area near the Israeli town of Arab al-Aramshe became the target of anti-tank weapons.

A Lebanese security source said that Hezbollah forces launched two precision missiles at Israel.

Residents of the southern Lebanese town of Rmeish said Israeli shelling had hit nearby targets.

A security source told Reuters that Israeli artillery shells hit a rocket launch site around Dhayra, near the Arab town of al-Aramshe.

Lebanese residents in these towns say the recent fighting is reminiscent of the summer of 2006, when Hezbollah and Israel fought fiercely for a month.

Local Lebanese television station al-Jadeed broadcast images showing clouds of white smoke rising from the forest near some homes and agricultural areas in Dhayra.

Hezbollah claimed to have launched precision missiles at Israeli positions in response to members of this force being killed in Israeli shelling earlier this week.

Hezbollah warned that it will respond fiercely to attacks on Lebanese territory, especially those that cause casualties.
