Fauci believes Biden will fulfill his vaccine commitment 4

Expert Fauci believes that Biden's goal of distributing 100 million doses of Covid-19 vaccine in the first 100 days of his inauguration is `absolutely doable`.

`The feasibility of his vaccination goal is very clear. It is certainly something that can be done,` Anthony Fauci, director of the US National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, said in the above interview.

Fauci said two new vaccines being developed by AstraZeneca and Johnson & Johnson may soon apply for authorization, helping to speed up vaccination.

He believes that having more Covid-19 vaccines plus wearing masks and avoiding gatherings will be the best way for the US to fight the new, more infectious strain of nCoV.

`If we can vaccinate the majority of the population, we will be in good shape and can defeat the mutant strain,` the top US infectious disease expert added.

Joe Biden received the second dose of Pfizer/BioNTech’s Covid-19 vaccine on January 11 at Christiana hospital in Newark, Delaware.

Fauci’s statement came in the context that US President Donald Trump’s administration was criticized for the slow pace of implementing the vaccination campaign, when the pandemic has killed about 400,000 people.

President-elect Biden said accelerating Covid-19 vaccination will be one of his top priorities after he takes office on January 20.

Biden promised to deploy federally funded vaccination sites in places like stadiums and school gymnasiums.

The incoming administration must also strengthen the supply chain of personal protective equipment so that medical staff can work safely.

Biden must also convince Americans to get vaccinated and follow basic epidemic prevention measures.
