Similarly, the section from km 27 to km 29 also has a number of scattered potholes, 10-20 cm long.
Mr. Nguyen Tien Thanh – Director of the Da Nang – Quang Ngai Expressway Project Management Board (VEC) said that the above road section was put into use more than a year ago.
`Due to heavy rain, some locations were flooded, and large trucks passed by, causing the asphalt layer to peel off, creating roughness,` Mr. Thanh said, explaining the reason and explaining that this layer of asphalt was only about 3 cm during construction.
According to him, the above route has just opened but there is a lot of heavy truck traffic, while VEC has not yet deployed vehicle weight scales.
The VEC leader also said that because the above locations only had a 3cm layer peeled off, the 25cm wide wheel `only startles the driver and does not affect the vehicle’s balance`.
A pothole is 50cm wide and nearly 10cm deep.
Mr. Thanh denied that the reason why the road had many peeling spots and potholes was due to poor construction quality.
Faced with the above phenomenon, engineer Tran Dan (Vice President of the Da Nang Road and Bridge Science and Technology Association) said that `potholes` have appeared on the highway, which has just been in use for more than a year.

Giving his personal opinion, Mr. Dan said that the repair method as the investor is applying is to `patch` the peeling points.
According to this engineer, the investor should organize a team to inspect the entire route, find the cause to find the right solution.
In May 2013, the Da Nang – Quang Ngai expressway was started, with a length of 131 km.
In early August 2017, phase 1, 65 km long, from Tuy Loan intersection (Da Nang) to Tam Ky intersection (Quang Nam) was technically opened and put into operation.
