The missed goal in the first leg of the Champions League semi-final against Real on April 27 was the 21st best opportunity that Timo Werner squandered at Chelsea this season.

At close range and completely unmarked, Werner still couldn’t score.

In the 10th minute, after Chelsea’s quick counterattack, the ball was stuffed into the penalty area by Mason Mount for Christian Pulisic to head in for Werner.

In the Champions League alone, Werner has appeared on the field in nine of Chelsea’s 10 matches since the beginning of the season, but squandered three good opportunities, failing to score any goals from live ball situations.

In all competitions this season, Werner has missed 21 good opportunities.
