Hanoi is struggling with a plan for admission to 6th grade 2

Leaders of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training responded in a roundabout way, but the 6th grade admission plan for some schools with the number of applications submitted many times higher than the target is still left open.

Most of the questions at the press information session on preparations for the 2015 national high school exam and admission to first-level classes of the Hanoi Department of Education on the afternoon of April 21 revolved around the issue of how to be admitted.

After dozens of questions from reporters, many people asked 2-3 times about the admission plan of some schools such as Nguyen Tat Thanh, Mari Curie, Luong The Vinh, Hanoi – Amsterdam Secondary School and after many times answering,

Parents and students rushed into the school to see the results of the 6th grade entrance exam for Hanoi – Amsterdam Secondary School for the Gifted in the 2014-2015 school year.

Explaining that the Department of Education has allowed 3 secondary schools, Nguyen Tat Thanh, Mari Curie, and Luong The Vinh, to enroll 6th grade students in the form of admission combined with assessment of student capacity by measuring IQ and EQ.

“We realize that if schools offer this admission option, it can be a breakthrough for the industry, can change the way of teaching from single-subject knowledge to multi-subject knowledge and take into account thinking capacity,

Mr. Dai also affirmed that Hanoi does not have selective specialized schools in the secondary school sector.

Sharing his school’s admission experience, Mr. Quoc Anh, Principal of Le Loi Secondary School (Ha Dong) informed that despite being under great pressure because it is a high-quality school in the district, the school has never taken entrance exams.

Sharing the same opinion, Ms. Kim Anh, Principal of Cau Giay Secondary School, said that in 2014 – 2015, she received more than 2,000 applications but only had 240 targets.

Leaders of the Hanoi Department of Education said that the admission period for grade 6 will take place from July 1 to 15.
